California-based battery manufacturing start-up Envia Systems recently announced a new breakthrough in research which could stand to reduce battery prices by 50%. These breakthroughs have enabled Envia to increase the battery’s energy density to 400 watt-hours per kilogram, thus extending an EVs range to as much as 300 miles.

The new breakthroughs, if successfully commercialized, could significantly expand the market potential of EVs, lowering their cost and eliminating range-anxiety, thereby making them a viable alternative for consumers.
