The Tianjin Eco City, located a mere one hour train ride outside of Beijing, recently completed construction on the area’s first residential housing units, which will be sold in public lotteries throughout April. The eco-city, which began construction in 2008, has been the target of over 250 billion yuan in funding from the Chinese and Singaporean governments as well as contributions from a number of private companies. By the time construction is completed in 2020 the city will be home to 350,000 residents.
