Ahead of international climate change talks in South Africa next week, the Chinese government published a white paper detailing its climate change policies on Tuesday. In the white paper, China reaffirms its commitment to greenhouse gas emissions reduction efforts and provides an account of the country’s successful emissions reduction efforts.

The white paper reports that China has already achieved a 20%, per unit of GDP, reduction of carbon emissions during the period of 2005-2010. The government plans to continue this trend and achieve a further 17% reduction by 2015.
