Orders for the Valmet Automotive manufactured Fisker Karma have reached 3,000.  Even with the first cars reaching buyers later this month and the current production capacity set to be ramped up to 300 cars per week by November, this means that the Karma will be sold out into early 2012.  The first units of the luxury extended range electric vehicle will be delivered to such high-profile buyers as: Hollywood actor, Leonardo DiCaprio and former U.S. Vice President and noted environmental activist, Al Gore. Karmas will begin to reach buyers in Europe this August.

Henrik Fisker, founder of Fisker Automotive and designer of the Karma, estimates that early sales are split evenly between early-adopting car enthusiasts and those interested in the concept of a “stylish, stress-free alternative with no range compromises.”
