Writing for the Wall Street Journal Magazine on February 17th, 2012, columnist Dan Neil heaped praise upon Fisker Automotive’s luxury EVer, the Fisker Karma. The car, manufactured at Valmet Automotive’s facilities in Uusikaupunki, Finland, has recently been raised as an example of the kind of wasteful spending of government grants, which critics argue, plagues the electric vehicle industry. Neil, however, holds the Karma up as a uniquely innovative and bold automobile which shirks the conventional cost-cutting wisdom so prevalent in the EV industry at large. Dan Neil attributes much of the Fisker Karma’s success to the bold engineering, design and manufacturing decisions made by the contributing teams at Fisker as well as Valmet Automotive.
